About Me

My name is Ellena, and I am a sophomore at Scripps College with a strong interest in ecology and environmental science. I grew up near the ocean, where my appreciation for California's ecosystems began. Growing up, I was naturally curious about the natural world and enjoyed observing and learning about animals, insects, fungi, and more.

From my nature sketchbooks to underwater photography, creativity has been a way for me to observe and honor the environments I love. My background is primarily in painting and drawing, with some experience in digital illustration.

Taking this digital art Photoshop class has opened my eyes to how many possibilities exist at the intersection of art and nature. It has expanded the way I think, create, and express my love of the natural world.
